Lois Margaret Baker was born May 1, 1909 at St. Vincent Hospital in Erie, Pennsylvania. Lois died on September 15, 2010 in Savannah, GA and was buried in the Erie Cemetary in Erie, PA she was 101 years "young". She grew up in Homestead, Pennsylvania. Lois was named after her Aunt Mary Lois Baker (Loesel). Lois and her parents moved to a farm in North East, Pennsylvania where she attended North East High School. Upon her high school graduation, she attended Bucknell University and graduated in 1931 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and French. Lois was in the teaching profession for 39 years, having taught in North East, Millcreek, Lawrence Park school districts, she later taught in a private prep school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Humanities were her main area having taught advanced placement high school English.

Along with teaching, Lois enjoyed travel with several trips to Europe.

On December 18, 1937 she married John (Jack) Arthur MacDonald from North East, Pennsylvania son of Frederick Moore MacDonald and Sarah May Ross. (Jack) was born in 1907 in Erie, Pennsylvania. Lois and (Jack) were divorced in 1941. They had one child Sally Lou MacDonald, born August 7, 1939.

Until the time of her death Lois lived in Savannah, Georgia where she enjoyed living close to her daughter Sally. On May 1, 2009 Lois celebrated her 100th birthday at Savannah Cottage, a memory facility.
